Elon Musk issues a denial of the resignation of Tesla’s legal chief.

Tesla issued a rare public comment on Thursday on a press report claiming legal department chief David Searle had left the electric car maker. On Twitter, the Tesla company led by Elon Musk said the article was “fake”. “This Bloomberg article is false. David Searle hasn’t left Tesla,” the electric car maker said in a tweet.

The company is notorious for not reacting to media reports or issuing a statement to the press, as all firefighting work is done directly by Musk himself via Twitter. According to the report, Mr. Searle left his role as head of Tesla’s legal department less than a month ago.

“Dinna Eskin, an assistant general counsel for the company, took over,” the report said, citing sources. The report also claims that Searle oversaw the investigation into the suspicious “specialty glass” order that allegedly resulted in the firing of several company employees.

Last month, Tesla began investigating its executive Omead Afshar, the head of construction and production oversight at Giga Texas. The internal investigation centered on the executive’s role in a plan to purchase hard-to-obtain building materials. These materials, according to the report, have been identified as suspects, according to the reports.

Reports indicate that the investigation was conducted by Searle. Tesla recently laid off 229 annotated employees from its Autopilot team and closed one of its offices in the United States.
