As far back as she can remember, Victoria Garcia-Arias has always enjoyed drawing and making with her hands.
It was in Spain, where she is from, that after studying industrial design, she did her first internship to learn how to work with leather. “I made bags for friends and when I arrived in France in 1999, this need to create had not left me”she says.
But, instead of embarking on leatherwork for large pieces, she chose to express herself by creating leather jewellery. “I was able to recover scraps, samples from craftsmen, which were intended to be thrown away, I don’t like this idea of waste, it’s a noble product that must be valued”she says.
More than leather was born and this small activity as a passionate craftswoman will allow her to create complete collections of original jewelry that she will sell herself on local markets.
His creations in shops in Nîmes
Today, Victoria is still developing her creativity by using a new tool, the laser and the precision of her cutting. “I make my sketches, I digitize them before putting them into the machine, the cutting is done at the Fab lab in Nîmes. The parts are perfect and I then create, assemble and sew everything by hand.”
As a result, the artist extends his palette and now also works with wood, “as a tribute to my father who was a cabinetmaker”she says.
New poetic objects that she can customize on demand, often mixing her two favorite materials.
She invests in social networks with an Instagram page dedicated to her shop, has a website, plusquecuir.com and the Poulxoise designer is going to be distributed in shops, in Nîmes, Marseillan or Anduze.
